Accel
Runs separate vehicles by geography and stage: an early-stage US fund, an early-stage Europe and Israel fund, a global growth fund, and a later-stage Leaders fund.
Criteria: A partner has stated on record that Accel still writes $500,000 to $1 million seed checks and expects roughly 20 to 30 companies per fund, with growth fund investments averaging $50 million to $75 million. Reporting notes Accel is frequently referred to companies by its own portfolio founders, and that more often than not the companies it backs are bootstrapped and located outside Silicon Valley.
What this means for your pitchIdentify the correct fund and geography before approaching. If you are bootstrapped and outside the Bay Area, you fit a documented pattern here rather than fighting one.
