Meet the Venture Capitalists · Firm Profile
Coatue
A crossover investor rather than a pure venture firm: states it invests in innovation through both public and private markets. Runs three named private strategies, venture for early-stage startups, growth for late-stage companies, and tactical for debt and equity solutions, alongside public equities.
Criteria: Publishes no assets under management, no founding year, no check sizes and no sector definition on its site. Portfolio examples name Anthropic, OpenAI, Databricks, Stripe, SpaceX and Cursor.
What this means for your pitchKnow which of the three strategies you are approaching before you write, because venture, growth and tactical are different businesses with different mandates. Understand too that a crossover investor can mark your company against public comparables in a way a pure venture fund will not, which is a tailwind in a rising market and a discipline in a falling one.
Assets under management, founding year, check sizes and sector focus are not published by the firm. Figures appearing in secondary coverage are unverified here.
