DCVC

Since 2010 · Deep technology

States it is a deep technology venture firm backing entrepreneurs who address the hardest, highest-stakes problems in the world, and that it has done so since 2010. States it has more published scientists than MBAs on its team.

Criteria: Names ten areas: AI, compute and quantum; computational biology and chemistry; cybersecurity, security and defence; energy and climate; finance and insurance; industrial transformation and advanced manufacturing; next generation agriculture; space; techbio; and techmed. Publishes no stages, no check sizes and no assets under management.

What this means for your pitchThe scientists-to-MBAs line is a hiring boast, but it is also an accurate warning about the meeting: expect to defend the science rather than the go-to-market. If your hard problem is technical and genuinely unsolved, this is the right room. If your advantage is commercial, it is not.

Stages, check sizes and assets under management are not published by the firm. A $1.3 billion fund target appears in press coverage and is unverified here.
