Felicis

Seed and Series A · Global

Publishes an unusually specific account of how it actually behaves: states that 94 percent of its investments are seed or Series A, that it often goes from first meeting to term sheet in 24 hours, and that 85 percent of new Felicis-backed founders come from network referrals.

Criteria: Four named focus areas: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and defence, global resilience and energy, and health and bio. States it has backed early-stage founders from more than 40 countries, that more than 65 Felicis-backed companies are unicorns, and that its portfolio has generated over $300 billion in total market value. Publishes no check size and no fund size.

What this means for your pitchTake the 85 percent seriously. On the firm's own figures roughly five of every six new investments arrive through a referral, so an introduction here is not a nicety, it is the main road. The stated 24 hour turn cuts both ways: prepare as though the decision will be made in a day, because it may be.
