Lux Capital

Frontier science and deep technology

States that it believes before others understand and that it turns sci-fi into sci-fact. Groups its portfolio under themes it names as securing life and environment, increasing productivity and efficiency, and progressing science and knowledge.

Criteria: Publishes no criteria. States no stages, no assets under management, no fund sizes and no check sizes on its own site. What it does publish is a large body of writing, including its Riskgaming platform, and for a firm this quiet about process that writing is the most reliable available signal of what it currently finds interesting.

What this means for your pitchRead the writing rather than the website. With no published criteria and no stated stages, what they are publishing and what they have recently backed are the only honest indicators of current appetite. Expect a science and engineering conversation rather than a metrics one, and treat the first meeting as a research discussion.

Assets under management, fund sizes and stage focus are not published by the firm. Figures appearing in secondary coverage are unverified here.
